DesignLab Nation- Call out for designer/artist/maker

DesignLab Nation  - Call out for designer/artist/maker to lead 26/27 project!

As part of DesignLab Nation, a national schools programme led by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the V&A Wedgwood Collection is collaborating with designers and local schools.

We are looking to recruit an innovative designer/artist/maker to lead exciting design projects with Secondary school students and teachers in the Stoke-on-Trent area between September 2026 and August 2027.

This designer will work with three Stoke-on-Trent Secondary schools on exciting, in-depth design projects focusing on themes of identity through costume design, performance and local connections with ceramics.

Themes may include: ceramics, costume design, parade and performance traditions, local identity, social history, and the expressive possibilities of form and shape

They will set a design challenge, which students will then work towards solving through four creative full-day sessions. With support from our V&A museum teams, the designer will plan a series of focused workshops highlighting key stages of a designer’s journey, including finding inspiration, writing a brief, experimentation, prototyping, and presentation.

The selected designer will also be asked to support several Teacher CPD and celebration events throughout the academic year, as well as participate in planning meetings and contribute to evaluation.

Overall fee: £6840.00
