What You’ll Learn
- How to prepare and centre clay on the wheel.
- Techniques to throw bowls, cylinders, and other forms.
- Trimming and refining your thrown pieces, if successful in creating them on the wheel.
- Decorating techniques to finish your creations.
What’s Included
- All materials, clay, tools, and aprons.
- Bisque and glaze firings for up to six pieces.
- Expert tuition in a supportive and creative environment.
- Each participant can keep up to one piece per session, which will be bisque-fired. All items will then be glaze-fired after week five and will be ready to collect within four weeks.
- Small class sizes (max. 8 participants) ensure personalised guidance and plenty of hands-on time at the wheel.

Meet Your Tutor: Lise Moorcroft
Lise Moorcroft, a celebrated ceramic artist and fourth-generation member of the legendary Moorcroft pottery family, brings her expertise and passion for ceramics to this course. With deep roots in Stoke-on-Trent’s rich ceramic heritage and a degree from London’s Central School of Art and Design, Lise blends traditional techniques with her unique creative flair.
Lise will guide you through every stage of the process, ensuring that whether you’re new to pottery or looking to refine your wheel-throwing techniques, you’ll leave with skills to treasure and pots to be proud of.

The course includes all materials, clay, tools, and aprons.
The price includes bisque and glaze firings for six pieces. Additional firings or pieces may incur extra charges.
Clay is a temperamental medium; cracks may sometimes occur during firing.
Cancellations: Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the course starts. Unfortunately, cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice cannot be refunded, and no-shows will also not be refunded. Once a course has started, the fees become non-refundable. Please ensure you can attend the entire course before booking your spot.
Missing Lessons: Our courses are structured progressively, with each lesson building upon the previous one. Unfortunately, due to the course structure, it’s not possible to reschedule missed lessons to another date
