Tourism Superstar Update

On 9th March 2020, VisitStoke and World of Wedgwood proudly announced that Olivia Thackstone, Front of House Manager at World of Wedgwood, had been shortlisted to the final ten of VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2020 award.

Now in its ninth year, the award is run in partnership with the Mirror newspaper. The award recognises and celebrates those in the tourism industry who go the extra mile to ensure tourists in England have an amazing and unforgettable visitor experience.

As we all know, a lot has happened since 9th March. Along with so many other establishments, World of Wedgwood closed its doors on 20th March as the world fights an unprecedented global pandemic.

Campaigning for votes was the last thing on our minds and we expected the award to be cancelled or postponed. The organisers, however, feel that this award celebrates individual people and is a positive human story when we all need some positivity in our lives.

After consultation with Olivia, we have decided to continue with her application in the positive spirit of the award.
