Sustainability at World of Wedgwood

At World of Wedgwood, sustainability is reflected in the choices we make every day, from reducing waste and reusing materials to supporting local makers and creating inclusive experiences. As part of Wedgwood’s heritage in Staffordshire, we recognise the importance of preserving our craft, supporting our community and making more responsible choices for the future.

Marketing and Communications

We have moved to digital marketing and communications with our third-party partners, eliminating the need to send brochures and sales materials by post. Our digital-first approach helps reduce paper consumption and supports more resource-conscious communication.

Operations and Materials

We look for opportunities to reuse materials across World of Wedgwood. In our Creative Studios, reclaimed Jasperware clay from the Wedgwood factory manufacturing process is reused where possible, giving materials a second life while connecting our guest experiences with Wedgwood’s craftsmanship.

Josiah & Co. was founded to showcase handmade, small-batch products from Staffordshire-based artisans. Today, we continue to support more than 35 local makers, who prioritise sustainable materials, offering durable, long-lasting alternatives to disposable products and short-lived homewares.

BEAR, our coffee and tea offering in Josiah & Co, focuses on single-origin sourcing and suppliers committed to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.

Environmental Responsibility

We make considered choices across our guest experiences to help reduce waste and our reliance on less sustainable materials. We use 100% recyclable and biodegradable protective paper wrap for guests’ pottery, alongside packaging made from sustainably sourced paper.

Our Factory Tours use VOX earphones, which are returned to VOX for recycling. We also offer digital ticketing and e-vouchers to reduce paper use across our booking processes.

In Josiah & Co, we encourage more sustainable everyday habits by offering customers a discount when they bring their own reusable cup. We also use biodegradable film for selected packaging, cards and prints.

Social Sustainability and Inclusion

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to discover and enjoy World of Wedgwood. Accessibility and inclusion are central to how we welcome our guests, and we continually look for ways to make our experiences more accessible, comfortable and enjoyable for people with different needs.
