FAQs


Q: What are your opening hours?
A: World of Wedgwood is open between 10am and 5pm Monday to Sunday. The Dining Hall opens at 10.00am every day.

The Wedgwood Tea Room is open Monday to Sunday from 12 noon.The last request for Afternoon Tea is 4pm.

The Factory Tour is closed to the public until autumn 2020.

The V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm (from 22 July 2020).

For Covid related or seasonal variations, check the opening times page for any changes to the standard opening times.


Q: What is the difference between the Wedgwood Museum and the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood?
A: Following a major public appeal led by Art Fund, the Wedgwood collection was saved for the nation and gifted to the V&A Museum in 2014. The collection is on long-term loan to the Wedgwood Museum, which was renamed the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood in 2019.

The V&A is the world's leading museum of art, design and performance.

The V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood comprises of over 80,000 works of art, ceramics, manuscripts and photographs. It is one of the most important industrial collections in the world and has 8,000 objects on display in its galleries.


Q: Is World of Wedgwood accessible to wheelchair users?
A: Yes all areas of World of Wedgwood are accessible to wheelchair users. There is a walkway from our car park to the World of Wedgwood Atrium (where our main reception is located) and this is completely flat. We have two lifts taking visitors up to the Factory Tour and Creative Studios. There are also seating areas located throughout the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood, and Factory Tour for anyone wishing to take a rest on their way round. There are also ramps in certain areas to ensure easy access for visitors with limited mobility.


Q: Are dogs allowed on site?
A: Dogs are allowed within World of Wedgwood’s courtyard, grounds and the Dining Hall but are not permitted to enter the Atrium, V&A Collection or Gift Shop, Factory Tour, Wedgwood Store, Tea Room or Factory Outlet. Only assistance dogs are allowed into these areas. There are water bowls for dogs located around the courtyard area.


Q: Do you allow Assistance Dogs into World of Wedgwood?
A: Yes Assistance Dogs are welcome across our whole site, both indoors and out.

 

Q: How do I book a stall at your markets?
A: All stalls are fully booked at the moment and there is currently a waiting list for 2021.

 

Q: Do you have allocated parking for Blue Badge holders?
A: Yes we have eight spaces designated for Blue Badge holders, which are clearly marked and are located at the closest point to the buildings on site.


Q: Is there somewhere to park at World of Wedgwood?
A: We have ample free parking here and there is no time limit for how long visitors can park.


Q: Are there any restrictions on access to your car park?
A: If accessing World of Wedgwood from Barlaston Old Road a height and weight limits apply on the canal bridge – the maximum height is 2.3m (7’-6”) and the maximum weight is 5T mgw. Please note that this is also a single lane bridge.


Q: Is World of Wedgwood family friendly?
A: Yes absolutely. Our whole site is accessible for those with pushchairs, we have baby changing facilities located across our site and World of Wedgwood has been designed with families in mind. We offer a range of activities for children and families, and there is a special children’s menu available in our Dining Hall as well as a children's afternoon tea option. Adjacent to our landscaped grounds are Hem Heath Woods which are ideal for walks and outdoor play.


Q: Can I pre-book for any of the creative activities?
A: Yes, creative activities must be pre-booked. This can be done via the Buy Tickets link on the individual pages within the Create section of this website or on the Tickets page. 


Q: Do you offer any accessibility aids?
A: We have four wheelchairs on site, which are available for complimentary use by our visitors with restricted mobility. You can book these in advance by calling us on 01782 282986 or alternatively ask at reception on the day of your visit.


Q: Do you cater for those with a hearing impairment?
A: We have hearing loops located at our till points in the Reception Atrium, Retail and Dining areas to assist those with impaired hearing.


Q: Do you have toilet facilities on site?
A: Yes we have three separate toilet areas, these are located in the World of Wedgwood Reception Atrium, the Dining Hall and the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood. All toilet areas have accessible toilets with wide doors and baby changing facilities. All accessible toilets have safety chord and handles fitted.


Q: Can I dine at World of Wedgwood?
A: Yes we have two dining areas to choose from – our Wedgwood Tea Room offers a contermporary English afternoon tea. The Dining Hall offers a takeaway service of artisan sandwiches, soup, home-made cakes, ice-cream, hot and cold drinks. On Friday and Saturday evenings there is a takeaway pizza service.


Q: Do I need to book to dine at World of Wedgwood?
A: You need to reserve a table in advance for afternoon tea in the Wedgwood Tea Room. This can be done online on the Tea Room Reservations page. We do not accept table bookings for the Dining Hall.


Q: Are your dining areas easy to access?
A: Yes they are. The Wedgwood Tea Room is located through the Wedgwood Store. The Dining Hall is located across the courtyard and there are ramps situated nearby for wheelchair users and those with push chairs, due to the slight gradient of the courtyard slopes.


Q: Do you offer concessions on your standard entry charges?
A: Visitors over the age of 60, students with a valid NUS or ID card and children aged 12 - 16 years are eligible to visit World of Wedgwood at a concessionary rate. Carers are admitted free of charge and free entry is also given to children under 12 years of age.


Q: Do you offer guided tours?
A: Yes, Guided Factory Tours are available Monday to Friday and can be booked in advance, subject to availability. Self-guided tours are not available.

The Factory Tour is currently closed as it is being transformed during the summer of 2020 and is due to reopen in autumn.


Q: Am I allowed to take photos while on site?
A: You can take photos in all areas of World of Wedgwood apart from in the Wedgwood Factory.


Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Card  and Apple Pay are accepted methods of payment. Cash is not being accepted currently for hygiene and safety reasons. For groups of 12 people or more, we accept company or group cheques. For more information about payment methods, please contact [email protected]
